South Portland, ME - Jack and Max Barber, the co-owners of Mainely Burgers, are excited to expand their presence in Greater Portland with the launch of a new neighborhood butcher shop and market. The new venture, named Barber Bros. Meat & Provisions, will honor the legacy of 101 Ocean Street and will open in fall 2023.

Jack and Max Barber, the brothers behind Barber Brothers, grew up in Cape Elizabeth and have food in their blood. Their grandfather, Gus Barber, started as a butcher with Barber Beef and expanded the business to Barber Foods in 1955. In 2012, the Barber Brothers started serving burgers and fries from their first food truck, and today they maintain a seasonal fleet of food trucks in Greater Portland and a Mainely Burgers restaurant in Boston.

 "We're excited to introduce new and local products to the space and to continue the legacy built over the last 83 years by Smaha's and Legion Square Market," said Jack Barber, one of the co-owners of Barber Bros. "We want to thank the former owner of Legion Square Market, Alan Cardinal, for his belief in us and for keeping the market local.”

Barber Bros. Meat & Provisions will offer a wide range of locally sourced meats, including beef, pork, chicken, lamb, sausages, deli items, and other prepared foods. The shop will also feature a selection of cheeses, bread, and pantry items, as well as fresh produce from local farms.
